Hello! I have completed 10 days of 100% SS! It has not been an EASY road but here I am making a mark, making it far enough to weigh in again. This morning I stepped on the scale and couldn't believe I've lost 16 lbs. since April 15th. I am sure most of it is water weight. Because I have A LOT to go, the 16 lbs. are not noticeable BUT I know I am headed in the right direction.
Easter weekend was a breeze. Thought it was going to be tough but it wasn't. Some of my family members know I am only consuming shakes so they didn't offer any food and encouraged me to leave early to make it to my next shake so that was easy. Making it to day 10 though was hard. Middle of day 9 (Tuesday) I was ready to give up. My niece's kids are here for spring break and they are eating every half hour so there's food around me. A lot of junk food especially so it's been a true (and hard) test for me this week.
I have been keeping busy with a very simple routine. Wake up, walk for 20 min then have a cup ginger and lemon tea and start to work. At 11am take a break, have my first shake then take the dog for her morning walk. During the day, work and water. At 3pm, another break, shake #2 and walk. Get off work by 6p. Feed the pets (a dog and 2 cats) and get ready for the last walk. At 7pm, shake #3, then evening walk the dog. Evening (from 8-9)read or watch TV. Shower and be in bed no later than 11pm and that's early for me as I used to be up till after midnight.
Here's to the next 10 days. I am mentally telling myself I am back to day one and doing 10 days at a time. That seems to work (so far).
Go get 'em, Sonali!

I am so happy for you.
For me, it's the routine and commitment to Cambridge, not the scale. I hope weighing yourself doesn't de-rail you as it does me.
I love your routine. I have be doing the 4-minute workout and going to the gym three times a week. I've started walking in the park again.
Good luck to you!!

That's wonderful Sonali! What a great start!
I'm glad your family is being supportive like that. It makes all the difference.
I'm sorry you had to endure the junk food party with your niece's kids. I hope none of them end up having to deal with weight issues like we have. It's a sad fact that we here in this country are overfed, even if we aren't aware of it. We humans did not survive as a species for 200 million years eating 6 times a day! Not even 3 times a day!! For most of our existence on the planet it was normal to go periods of time, days or even weeks, without food. And it was not always detrimental to our health either as long as food was eventually available in time. During times of fasting a lot of things are happening in the body. Healing, cleaning out of junk cells and making new ones, growth hormone increases and our immune systems can reset. Also, all that fat that was stored is used for fuel...yay for that! Constant eating keeps us in a fed state and suppresses these important functions. It causes our insulin to remain constantly elevated which then takes all that sugar and stores it as fat in our liver and muscles and all around our organs, and eventually in to adipose tissue which we see when we look in the mirror. Most of us are carrying around sugar we ate years ago! Imagine that! lol! It is only when we stop the constant eating, especially of carbohydrate, that we force our body to start doing the work it was designed to do, and do it being fueled by fat.
You are on a very positive track. I love your routine and by having that you are eliminating the moments of impulsive decision making that often spirals in to bargaining and justifying going off plan.
Keep up the good work!
