splenda Posted by B. Flesher on 6/30/2019, 1:50 pm Could using splenda make me be retaining water? The scale has been at a stand still or going up a lb. I have been using it in my Ginger tea for my sciatia and also to make the cookie with my oats. I am going to cut it out today and see what happens. I drink about 100 oz of water a day. I am still about 7lbs from the surgery weight goal.

It really depends on who you talk to and which studies you read. The studies that are against sucralose show side effects from its use. Some of the more commonly reported sucralose side effects are: Migraines; Dizziness; Intestinal cramping (3); Rashes; Acne; Headaches; Bloating; Chest pain; Tinnitus; and Bleeding gums. It mentions bloating, and maybe that is connected with fluid retention? I any case, you are on the right track and eliminating the Splenda couldn't hurt. Best Wishes.

Even though it has no sugar or carbs, your body still recognizes it as sweet so it reacts accordingly. Most people can use it with no problem, but if you are metabolically messed up with insulin resistance, diabetes, or PCOS, it can cause a problem.
