Hi everyone. As I continue to deal with this news of Cambridge going out of business, I find that one of the hardest things to come to terms with, other then the financial blow this is for my family, is the thought of us all losing our community here. I put this board up over 18 years ago. I had never even touched a computer before that and in fact, I actually started it on a WebTV! Many of you may not even know what that is, lol! I started it because I realized that there was no support for customers anymore like there had been in the early days of Cambridge. People were buying online and not face to face from a Distributor, or counselor as we were called back then. There was little instruction and 0 support. This board was the perfect solution to the then current world. At first, it was just me all by my lonesome, but gradually others started finding it and soon it was a fast paced large group of Cambridge dieters! It was amazing!!
Some of you have been here since the early days. We've seen each other through weight loss, weight gain, life issues, births and deaths and injuries. You all have shown me examples of generosity and caring and I greatly appreciate it.
So..here's the thing. I got a call from Yvonne today. She was asking what my plan was for the board and if it would be possible to continue on without Cambridge. I had already been putting a great deal of thought in to this. It's what brought us together, but our common denominator is weight loss and pursuing health. That remains the same. Many of you are stocking up on Cambridge and will be continuing with it after they close, but some of you may not be in a position to do that and will need to continue on a different path. My question is, would you all be interested in keeping the group together as a generic weight loss group? It could be tricky in that different diets would be discussed and some may have opinions about others choices, but the goal would be a supportive and encouraging place to discuss the emotional and social challenges of weight loss, not unlike we do now. I will share what I gather in my daily studies and research of health and diet related topics and we can continue to work towards our goals together.
Come Dec 31st I am required to dismantle all things Cambridge related including my website, Domain name, my FaceBook page, my advertising, and this support board. Or at least rename it and separate it from my other Cambridge stuff. I am NOT a computer savvy person so I have no clue how this will go, but I would post the link to whatever it ends up being on here and we can go on our merry way!
Dear Pam, thank you for all you have done to help so many of us on our weight loss journey. You, of all people, must be hurting deeply from this loss! I am so sorry!!! When I came back to the board to read the posts this week I wasn't expecting this! I was absolutely shocked to learn that Cambridge is shutting down. I am so very sorry for anyone who relies on Cambridge for weight loss and maintenance. I still need to lose a lot of weight and will definitely be looking to Cambridge for at least part of my journey. If you are willing to start a new weight loss support board, whether it be on the full web or Facebook that would be wonderful! I will be looking forward to your new support group. Again thank you-
