Oh goodness! Here I was thinking that I could get back on Cambridge USA (the only plan that has ever worked for me). And...poof!...no Cambridge? I cannot believe it. I have pouches from a few years ago, stored...there are no expiration dates on them, can I use these? Anyone know? Really...is there no product available AT ALL anymore? (Just crushed).
I don’t mean to offend...but I tried UK Cambridge TWICE...followed it to the letter (I had already been successful on Cambridge USA, so not a problem...or so I thought) and after one month the first time, I lost three pounds (!) and the next time I tried, in ten weeks lost eight pounds(!) I did everything I was supposed to do. I was stunned at the meagre loss! My counselors (you have to have a counselor, and you had to get weighed...) thought I was not following the plan or that I was eating off plan! I was so mortified. I just said that I was not paying for a program that was not working for me. I quit. It was obvious to me that the UK formulations were causing some sort of reaction or inflammation in my body. Plus they had aspartame and other chemical sweeteners...whatever USA Cambridge had as sweeteners, they really were blended so that you didn’t have an overwhelming “awful” fake sweet taste. They had fructose I believe which was really fantastic. I had a dear friend in the USA who was kind enough to ship my Cambridge to me. It was costly, but I lost 70 lbs and kept it off for seven years untilI suffered some personal setbacks and I turned to food again.I started exercising this summer, but wanted to start Cambridge USA again. So disappointed! (Cambridge UK does work for others...it didn’t for me).
Can someone fill me in on what is happening? With product? This board was part of my success story and Pam’s guidance was always so great.
Also...please let me know if the product I have might still be good to use? I’ve searched far and wide for a VLCD shake that had no aspartame, no sucralose and no Stevia...to no avail. I miss my 330!!! It was delicious!
Blessings and thank you all! Sorry to have been so long-winded!
The general advice about unopened pouches was 3 to 5 yrs depending on how it he been stored. If it had been in a hot damp environment then it could be less. 6 months if opened and kept in a cool dry place. You can open it and see how it tastes and smells. You would notice it smelling off. It's still ok to consume, but as oxygen gets in the container it will start to degrade the micronutrients over time. It won't necessarily be "bad", just possibly reduced in nutrients which is important when using sole source.
The loss of Cambridge has been sad for us all. It's been part of my life since 1980 when it was brand new and I first used it and became a "counselor". We were called that back then too.
You might try checking eBay or other marketplaces. A lot of people bought huge stockpiles when it was announced they were closing and may be selling some off.
Your pouches should be good for 3 years if they are unopened. I believe they are good for 1 year if opened.
Cambridge made in America is no longer available as the company shut down at the end of 2019. You may able to buy some product from customers who have a stockpile of unused product. There is a comparable brand which is marketed as SUCCESS (formulated by Dr. Howard) I believe but it is more expensive.
To me expiration dates are a "suggestion". I have frozen milk for years.
Anyway, I don't know what Pam will say, but I just purchased a truck load of Cambridge from another Board member and I am going to use it until it is all gone. If it is unopened, I would think that it wouldn't be a problem. But what do I know. I have the Chocolate Mousse which was discontinued years ago and it is still good for me.
I would say in this instance, use your own judgment.
