Dodgers game, Halloween cake, Pumpkin Carving Posted by Sonali on 10/26/2020, 12:29 pm It was a VERY busy weekend! We had a pumpkin carving party, played games, watched the games (Dodgers are on the lead) and ate, ate, ate! I was very cautious about my food intake. I could have ate more, but didn't. I could have avoided all the junk all together, BUT DIDN'T! Anyway, Here's to the last week of October. Off to walk. The Santa Ana winds are crazy today so may not be able to do the whole lap around but will try my best! Tonight: Another pumpkin carving party Tuesday: Dodgers game party gathering Weds: If the Dodgers, didn't win Tues, then the last game gathering Thurs: Sister's husband & son's bday gathering Fri: Halloween Haunt drive thru in LA *dinner plans of course Sat: HALLOWEEN! Giving out candy! And walking my pup in a costume for the neighborhood costume contest Sun: WEIGH IN! As you can see, my week is as scary as any Halloween week! Wish me luck!

I just reviewed the World Series scores. WOW! It sounds very exciting, if you are a Dodgers fan. No kidding!! I hope the Dodgers win. You know they were the original major league team of Jackie Robinson back in the day. Your schedule is CRAAZZZZY!! But, it looks like so much fun. ENJOY!!

I see the Reese's® peanut butter cups and the Snickers® in the background and I am drooling. Smack me back into reality. I've been tempted today and I succumbed to a shrimp Po-Boy. I could have eaten two more, but I restrained myself because of the weigh-in on Sunday. Whatever happens, Sonali, I am SO glad that we are trying our best in the midst of overpowering temptation. And, just think, if we DIDN'T have the challenge? I would have been all over that cake and then some. But, our challenge held me back. THANKS!!! Lovely, jack-o-lanterns. Did you do the carving? Beautiful. I've never seen a white pumpkin before. Did someone paint it white or is that a different species of pumpkin? It looks great.

The cake was baked by my sister. It's German chocolate cake with chocolate chips and fudge. So ridiculously good BUT I only had a sliver of a slice! We all carved. Mine is the 3rd one from the left. There's a lot of white pumpkins at the stores... it was store bought, we didn't paint it. We didn't end up carving pumpkins last night because we had heavy Santa Ana winds. We were without power and there's a lot of smoke and ashes outside because of the near by fires. I didn't walk last night... walked around the hours and at the store so only made 7000 steps. We are carving pumpkins tonight and watching the game. Hopefully the carving keeps me away from munching away.

7000 steps?!! Posted by Yvonne on 10/27/2020, 10:28 pm, in reply to "Re: Great Pumpkin carving" Are you kidding, I am lucky to get in 5000 steps in on a regular basis. One day I was a real slug and registered only 1200 steps (and I didn't feel guilty either). So, there! The German chocolate cake looks like it is "to die for". My hat's off to you for resisting with only a sliver of a slice. I would have eaten most of the cake. Girl, you got skills with your carving. I learn something today---that decorated pumpkins can be store-bought. Who knew?! Not in Jersey. We don't have any Santa Ana winds here in the Northeast, but Superstorm Sandy back in 2012 had me running to get a generator for our entire house---Generac. I have no more worries now about power outages. They are inevitable it seems. But, please be safe. Regrettably, carving is not enough to keep ME from munching. I just try to distract myself by reading. The television has too many commercials and too much about politics. So, I just read. Take care and stay safe, Sonali.
