professional - help!

I would love to have an psychologist or the like take a look at all these posts combined, and give us a professional opinion based on the combined content, the more of which I read seems so similar. I see myself in varying degrees in all that I read, and it is both comforting, and alarming that there is not more knowledge and research - any doctor I have ever spoken to looks blankly and gives me a prescription or drones on about the merits of more fiber. They really don't understand. Anyone out there besides those of us afflicted who knows anything? Anybody both afflicted and a psychologist - that would be best! I would also like to know the real stats on how much poop you can retain before it becomes a health risk (I have heard up to three weeks - I can't stand the feeling after two days!) and how much poop still resides in the colon after a 'regular' evacuation - I am always worried I havent gone 'enough'. There are many websites with shocking stories, but they are always trying to sell a 'cleansing' product so I don't have much faith in them. Any doctors out there willing to share info would be appreciated!
