I usually suggest rehearsing specific things she can say or do within the situation. Giving her more exposure with a toolkit of lines to say might be helpful for her (i.e. if she's going to a girl scout meeting, she could ask another scout about her badges and the two of you could role play the conversation. Yes it may be awkward but it also might help her remember what she can say if she needs help). Also, it might help to have her join a club or sport of something that she is super good at--i.e. if she's an artist, join an art club. Good luck, Emily, NCSP
