You see, back 10-15 years ago these power con men realized that to get established in this sport as a meet director a man will need to spend 10-15 years building their organization/meets. BUT, they quickly realized that if you can cheat and give the lifters lifts they could never achieve in other organizations, they would be an instant success. They also knew that there were enough ego crazed and unethical people in this sport to make this happen. Make no mistake about it, the lifters who lift in these meets know full well they are garbage meets but for $85.00 to $100.00 per entry you can get a "record" or "pr" that is only a fantasy in a legit federation. But their almighty ego convinces them to "take it." These con-men can over charge for entry fee's and these fools line up in droves to be a part of it. And YES, anyone who has lifted in this garbage, bought one of these garbage fed's cards, attended one of their meets and paid admission or merely attended one of their meets, has been a part of promoting this garbage. Your mere attendance is supporting their efforts.
Keep in mind that while this great con was being played out that NASA held our course. We never wavered. We watched as many lifters who we thought were good, moral and credible lifters wondered over to these garbage meets and supported them. They abandoned us for their own ego.
Yes, I have been telling people for years this day was coming and hardly anyone listened. Many commented that "it doesn't effect NASA." As I told them then and continue to tell people today, "Yes it does effect NASA. It effects the entire sport." You see, new lifters coming into the sport see this garbage and think it is Real Powerlifting. They see 1,000-1,200 lb half squats being called SQUATS and they realize they can never do such weights and they simply never compete in our sport or they actually believe this garbage is real. The same goes for lifters who stuff their shirts full of knee wraps on the BP so they can "touch" the heap of wraps instead of going to their chest. The list of cons can go on forever, fake weigh-ins, using weights which are extremely light, 3,4,5,6 ply equipment, the list goes on.
The list of accomplices to this fraud go on forever including Westside, SPF, all their sponsors, those lifters who attended these meets as lifters, spectators and coaches. So blame yourselves if you are one of these people. You must be proud of the monster you have created.
Powerlifting Rules are in place to keep the reins on it, to keep it from getting out of line and out of control. You can now see what you get when you remove "integrity" from the sport. It's called Kaos.
