Re: Equipped and unequipped
I have read everyone's responses here and I think everyone is basically saying the same thing. Equipped was once one thing, and now is another. Point blank is that its ones personal opinion on the matter. I don't necessarily subscribe to the "if you can't lift it raw, you can't lift it" but I get the premise of that point of view. There is a reason why the two are separated in meets, those who choose raw compete against raw lifter and visa versa. I have massive amounts of respect for guys like Coby Carden, Tyson Meyers, Jamie McDougal, Beau Moore, Brett Lanier to name just a few I have met personally. But also respect equipped lifters like Lucas Moreno, Drew Manz, and Sammy Sebok all who compete in NASA. Everyone puts in the time regardless of equipped or unequipped and trains til their eyes are ready to pop out their skulls.
I have competed both ways (not close to the level of some of the guys I mentioned above) and I would feel slighted if another fellow NASA lifter told me I didn't lift the weight if I chose to compete equipped. Either way your a powerlifter in my book.
Just my 2 cents.
