Tried the usual stuff (penetrating oil, heating, tapping out, using an extractor) and it hasn't budged one bit.
It's simple enough to make or buy a new dowel so hopefully tonight I'll take a junior hacksaw to it. - I don't like such crude methods but I really don't want to give the cases too much stick - I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks for the parts list, I have this book as well but may just print some of your pages - this book has been more useful than the useless Haynes manual, apart from torque settings the Haynes book might just as well be chucked away!!
