Its pot luck really. Awatoto is usually a good bet for a Kahawai (but not guaranteed)
You might catch fish in one area one day, and get nothing the next in the same spot. Fish move around so its just luck if you happen to be fishing where they turn up 
Try fishing different tides and times as well.
