Had a nice wee tussle with a resident Kingfish, all 15 to 20mins of it paying dividends taken on a large yelloweye mullet slide baiting yesterday. 15.3kg . Only fished the one rod with a livey as the river weed drifting down the beach was catching on the line at times. Bait had been set for 15mins before the rod doubled and line was gushing out. Taken mid tide at 145pm. Sh!t piles of Kahawai, and managed a bin full of Snaps and a few gurnard aswell on my 1 day off midweek weekend
. Couldn't get over the abundance of Grey mullet at the mouth lip was unreal. Such a fickle hot and cold beach but was certainly on before the southerly rolled in at 6pm and squashed it. Certainly worth a look when it settles.
