Take Nothing For Granted
Like all National events, it is important to get the best to the event to compete if it is to be successful, there is no point in holding a second tier event or competition. Over the past few years the most common comments I have heard from the serious casters at a NZACA Nationals is "why on earth would I drive X amount of kilometers for three casts, its just not worth it". Guy's like Pete, Neil and Gary are important at this event and it's important they get a fair shot at what they come to do, cast.
I would like see these top casters who apply themselves to a trade actually get a good go and fair opportunity at amazing distances, records and recognition. I believe for this to happen is after everyone casts as per normal, the top 6-10(Your advice on how many) open mens casters get the opportunity for a further 3 casts. Their previous casts still stand, however they now get the chance to better themselves when their more relaxed and have nothing to lose which should see some fantastic opportunities for larger distances and more of a pinnacle event for the casters.
The final carrot to bring in the casters and make it a special event would be the shot at going to the Australian casting nationals to represent NZ and gain further experience from the guys over seas. The furtherest cast ( accuracy not included ) would get that opportunity under my proposal. This is a small change that would hopefully make it worth the guys traveling too.
Once again, constructive comments are welcome and encouraged, It's not just the fishing im interested in.......
