Don't be too quick to write the beaches off, Rex. Next year is election year and no party, other than the Greens and Maori interest groups will be keen on upsetting the general population.

Both the main parties will be keen to woo Maori MPs into a coalition. I believe there will be some very serious dialogue exchanged on treaty settlements before anything is set in an election policy.
