I was walking along the wellington waterfront today and noticed the Amatal Explorer berthed there. It is a very large fishing boat. When I got back to work I did a google on it and discovered some staggering facts. It was the first purpose built freezer trawler for NZ deep water fishery and has caught a new zealand domestic trawler record of 13800 tonnes in one year. That rather puts my lazy sunday catch into perspective. !! Oh and if you thing 13800 tonnes is not enough, Talleys have 5 of these big vessels in their fleet.
