Looks like a lumo head needlefish skirt on that rig to me. Hangler you are bang on the money in terms of Kahawai as a decent table fish I am quite partial to the fillets being floured then fried in butter or smoked but have also had it marinated either way it is a good fish that deserves to be a bit more than just another snapper bait I probably say that as my old man used to feed us whatever fish he caught bar spotties and sprats but he only did stingray once (one of those ugly black longtailed ones) and we all got crook he didn't get the wings off in time and they got the ammonia build up in them have refused to have stingray ever since.
