Generally only fish that spot during the Winter & Spring, as its pretty much guaranteed to throw up a handful or Gurnard most times its fished. Never caught any Rays there, but no doubt they show up, probably more during the Summer.

If you have ever read the book "Sea Cockies of the Manukau" by Mavis Brambley, that spot is right next door to the homestead where the family lived. There are a many great tales about the fish caught in that bay, particularly the large Great White Sharks caught in front of the Homestead, a good read if you get the chance.
