Got to agree with Rex. When I lived in the Bay of Plenty up until four years ago, I fished Pikowai, this was my favourite spot. Had no problems catching fish during the day but the better fish came at sun up and as the sun went down.

A good all round venue with snapper, gurnard kahawhai () small trev's and frequent rays. One night I got lucky with a nice kingie that took a very small kahawai I had just hooked.
