Was meant to go fishing on Sunday conditions were ideal for the waikato part of the west coast for a morning fish started up the isuzu Bighorn and all I heard was a nasty dry bearing sound popped bonnet found a very wobbly radiator fan a sure tell tale sign of knackered water pump. Replaced yesterday refilled radiator and found water pouring out everywhere and then found water coming out from behind the back plate between the front of engine block indicating the steel gasket behind there had gone. So it is off to shop for front end engine strip down of timing gear, diesel injector pump, crank pulley to remove that plate to get the new gasket in which is going to set me back $1500 so now have to reduce my frequency of surfcasting trips and forget getting back into fishing comps until this mess is paid off the fishing and TAS withdrawl symptoms are all aready kicking in. Would do the job myself like all the other work that has been done to that wagon but when it comes to resetting timing and never dealing with a diesel injector pump I am not touching this repair job with a 10 foot barge pole.
