Headed out to Kawhia last Friday in atrocious conditions. Howling SW wind, 3 metre+ tide and full moon and went to fish a hole that had yielded 6 pannies on my last trip. I had re read an old article of SNAPPAs called smooth hounds unleashed and bought 2 big paddle crabs from Pak n Save on my way out. After soaking anchovies for an hour or so for one decent KW I decided to give the paddle crab a go I chopped one up and got 4 good baits out of it and managed to get a cast over the shore break. I noticed my line had heading down the beach and thought the sinker had pulled however after a bit of a tussle landed a good sized spotted doggy, my first off the beach. the trunk was 55cm. No action after that but I'll be back to that hole for sure, specially seems I can get around there in my Rav. Thanks for the article SNAPPA!
