Over the last 12 months I feel things have finally started to pick up. I always thought incoming tide was the go for our coast but the best moki sessions I have had they were all landed an hour either side of low tide so I dont know, you make what you like others may have different experiences. I think the bottom line is make sure you have a bait in the water (Mussel, cray etc) and perhaps location is more important than anything. The Wairarapa has some fantastic beaches that have reef systems really close to the beach so always keep an eye out.
As SNAPPA said a simple ledger rig with 3-5/0 gammy circle will do the trick just fine! Just make sure youve got a bait in the water. it may take a while but you only need one good session and all those fishless days and nights will be errased from the memory bank Good luck!
