The Foxton Club enjoys an adventure as much as the fishing so the trip down to the beach was the icing on the cake with about twenty six or so river crossing down to the beach. I'm not saying this was a serious 4x4 trip but it was fun.
The trip went without a hitch apart from Zoey the puppy having trouble keeping her brekky down.
We checked out the beach and considering the weather on the way down to J'Ville wasn't flash the water was perfect.
We spread ourselves out along the beach, cast out and almost immediately hooked into some big fat strong Kahawai. These fish have to be one of the most fun good value fish in the water.
Poor old Wayne hadn't even caught a cold as yet when he goes and pulls in a monster Blue Cod, it was fat like a slug and measured 43cm long. If there was a bar there it would have been his shout. Bryan C landed a a dozen KY putting eight of them back I think we all caught fish which is always a bonus.
Batch Beach and that south coast is a wonderful place to fish and just to be there.
The trip out there went without a hitch which may not have been the case if Craig had chosen to take the short cut through the deep river crossing. The Hyundai surprised a lot of us handling the trip to the beach and back with ease.
We would like to thank Gary and the WASC boys for getting us to the beach and looking after us.
This trip proved the benefits of belonging to a club, giving you the contacts to be able to get together and enjoy events like this.
