With the scud sinker being a success in improving the catch rate what do you develop next along similar lines but improving the holding capabilities without effecting the take of a shy snapper .
The K4 was born , basically a Scud with two extra wings giving you superior holding ability and the easy pickup of the Scud.
The K4 then morffed into the Gary's Gurnard sinker by adding a long tail . Many of you may say , what the hell it has a long tail so what. The reason for the long tail is to aid the scratching method when you are targeting you guessed it Gurnard .
If you haven't heard of scratching it is a method of arousing the attention of Gurnard by casting your bait and slowly retrieving , stopping every couple of meters and letting the bait sit and then repeat until you need to rebating and cast. Soft plastics would be ideal for this method.
