I run the boat out the Wairoa Bar yesterday and headed down that way to Mohaka rocks. Limits of snapper and plenty of 3 kilo models, plenty of juvenile snapper to. I was fishing anywhere from 800m to 2.5k from shore.

Good catches of snapper on longlines too

The temp was consistently 15 degrees ( 15.2-15.6).

In mahia on the outside it around 16.4 and on the inside around black reef its about 15.8.

The next big swell backed with fine weather will see the start of the new season hopefully. The fish are sitting out there, the shore line just needs a good dump.

Been good catches at mahanuga to. I went to dinahs to try lure some snapper but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Plenty of kahawai, lemons, tope and what not, but no snapper. Using cray may have made a difference though, cray seems to be the bait at the moment.
