Was slow, fished over the low in promising waters for a bunch of 90cm lemons and a stingray stink … Tried Snapper rock saturday morning zilch, and took too long to finally catch a live bait to pitch too a hungry John dory that faaakkkdd off just before i finally caught my livey. A lot of piper there, and could see red mokis, hewi hewi and butterfish cruising the edge in the clear waters. Old faithful Whakaki didn't let me down tho, with swells dropping overnight friday, it looked awesome sat mid morning. Managed some solid 9kg plus lemons, heaps of Kahawai, and one lonely panny Snapper before the easterly blew in and it pissed down at 9pm. Still good to get away and explore the wairoa/mahia coasts
