Thank you Druid, it's always nice to pass on ideas when something useful crops up. It is better if the anchovy is frozen, then you can cut open the gut cavity and not lose the all important juices.

I carry my bait in a small chilly box (or bag), this way I can bait up hooks and keep them in the chilly box until they are ready to be put to use. This doesn't waste any time with the end gear on the beach, wind in, snap on a new trace (genie clips are ideal) and get fishing again immediately.

It works for me.
