Very light rod and reel combo, small hook and a pinch of bread flake, a little bigger than a 20 cent piece. No weight just let it drift on the surface. You would be surprised what a spirited fight these fish will give you. One tip: do not strike a take too soon, mullet have very soft lips and the hook will put through them.
