I like your el cheapo style. I use Glad Snaplock bags (sandwich size). I lay about 6 of them one on top of the other, align them up and staple them together with 5 staples along their bottom edge. They are slippery little buggers but once the first staple is in at one end the rest are easy.

My first 2 "envelopes" are for spare pulley rigs and ledger rigs. The rest for spare traces of different lengths and hook sizes and glow beads for lemons. I label the outside of each envelope with an indelible pen where appropriate.

The trace lengths I wind round 2 fingers then wrap the swivel (or clip) end 3 times round the loops leaving a decent length of tag end sticking out. I put 4 to 6 traces to an envelope without tangling problems. Cheap eh?

I use low memory Ultima Enigma for my traces (30 or 40 lb). Ultima might have gone out of business but I was still able to "stock up" on more recently.
