    Hi Fella's

Well actually probably 00.3 actually. But before I get into that. After three days of waiting a big long package arrived here today. Yep my Okuma Solaris and Axeon90. All I can say is bloody good kit. After salvitating for quite some time, down to the beach for a try out. No bait, just dry sand casting with a five ouncer. Well after my glassie, I am starting a new learning curve. Tried several pendulums and holy hell they ain't working today. Overhead thumps, drat. Whats the problem. I aint getting the distance I expected, I mean this is a true casting rod and reel and cost a few bucks.

Maybe I should have stuck with my glassie, I thought. Like hell, I said. A new rod is like a new girlfriend, ya gotta get used to her. (Sorry Ladies no offence intended). Just mens talk.

So lets try an OTG, aha a vast improvement. So lets try some more, getting better Hardy. Left the beach impressed. And of course wrapped my new love up well in her fleecy blanket. What a new ball game. So bloody light and what a whip. Just gotta get the lead lined up with whip, all at the right time of course. A few pendulems hit the beach at 100kmph, at 40 yards, thank god I had my army surplus shovel to dig the lead out.

This is gonna be fun. Looks like u give me a bita slack rod and I will give you a bit, together we will learn to love each other, but just remember I am a virgin so don't take advantage of me till I get to know all about you and your wicked little ways. I have never been out with a graphie before only glassies. Nuff said or we will be laying on the beach together lol.

Right the no 8 connection. When I got the reel the line was stayed down under a very neat little wraparound button on the spool seat. Well that is new. Now all my surfcasting life I have always been wrought with where to tie the line after you break the rod down or take the reel off. And if you don't tie it off somewhere it is going to always spool off.

I use Magic Twistee Garden for many things and it used to always be in my tackle box. That is like the twisties for freezer bags but a reel of it.
So wrap a bit around the front butt, twist it around the line and a neat line holder. Now why didn't I think of that before. It also makes an excellent unbarbed keeper hook. Just strip of the plastic shield using a sharp knife. Wrap unstripped bit behind hook, stripped bit into bait or whatever, make hook size as you want. No you can't use your teeth, used to try that, thats to tough on the molars. Makes a bloody good cheap mans crimp, beats a stopper knot any day, actually makes a bloody good stoper to. Probably make a bloody good bait clip to, must try that.

Anybody else got any good idea's what we can use it for. (I'm thinking soft baits somehow, someway)

And if you have all discovered it before, well I will be like Team Breakaway and get a slight but not overly heavy, we knew that already.

Ok guys I gota get my new girlfriend Madame Solaris to bed. She reckons single beds till I get to know her. She said no long casts for you until you know how to treat me right. My answer, " You cost me a fortune can't you give me a bit of slack and just go a few yards more. Her answer, "If I give you an inch you will take a mile, typical bloody male you are. Looks like I am going to have to win her over.

Scene in a bar. "Evening Sir, what would you like to drink, Oh I will have a beer, and a glass of wine for my rod (Madame Solaris).

See she is driving me mad already.

    Cheers Trev
