Talked to a guy with a fizz boat last year who fishes out of Whangawehe. One morning he was going out to catch some skipkack for bait. (they often come in close there) he ran his lines shortly after passing Snapper Rock. Within fifteen minutes he said there was a striped marlin bouncing around on the end of his line. He lost it but hooked another which he also lost (light gear). Be ready Chad.
