A change in technique will change your distance more so than the lead size. A simple flip of the deck produces far less power than a full pendulum. For a few weeks in the late 90s if you cast more than 60 yards you went past the 20 pound snapper so it does have its place,as it does for Moki at close range. Either way you still need enough lead to preload the rod the less power then generated takes yards off your distance.
