As I mentioned to you last night, I fished Aropaoanui till 6.30pm yesterday, the wind was just funnelling through the valley and at times it felt like someone was standing directly behind me with a sandblaster on full. Getting past that however I had fun with some big kahawai and 1 coutta. Bites died at 6pm so packed up and on my way home stopped at Whirinaki to watch someone pull in a kontiki, decided that while there why not have a flick by the reef for the change of light. Right on the change I hooked up into a snapper which I lost due to me mistakenly using the trace that I was going to pull apart instead of the new one I had. It was the one that had caught the coutta and had nicks throughout the line. No wonder I lost it, some colourful language followed..... The goal I set for my holidays was to travel no more than 50k either direction and catch a local snapper, should have ended last night, still have another 5 days to go though
