Yeah if you had a quad, I would suggust blacks hands down........ Plenty of sholies and the odd gurnard as well as kahawai, much like kanes mohaka report. Fishes well up to dark then it dies.

I have fished mahanga a couple of times, and lets just say I would never post my results Stingrays and small kahawai seems to be the flavour there.

As mentioned earlier, there has been allot of kingfish around snapper rock take burley and it would almost garantee you seeing a few, and some mates have had dory around but they didn't realise they they had to use a live bait to catch em, so thats a good option for a morning come this feild weekend.

Whakamahia, thousands a fat kahawai of all sizes. Water is so clean is choice, and we all know what that many kahawai attract...... Not much else there.

I have been fishing waihua for mixed results, good sholies around 2kg there one day, throw backs the next.

The trawlers have been smashing blacks and tahanui during these north easters, mainly for shelter id say, but it has been ratshit to see. Spent 7 hours in the rubber duck off nuhaka amongst the pricks last weekend for 1 gurnard an hour, pretty hard going..... spineys.......lots a cuta ....... grrrrrr.

For this time of year in general, and I can't speak for mohaka as I havent been there for a few weeks, it is pretty slow. Not many nurds around, plenty a kahawai..... handfuls of sholies but ya really have to work for em. I hope the next dump of swell mixes it up again ad bring on a good bite. The water is stunning up here at the moment, there would be at least 10 meters vis at blacks.
