    Who would have thought weed at the mouth end and monster kakawai at the rocks (reef end). You need more than a crystal ball to analyse the mighty Porongahau.I had clear water and a moderate swell and 2 kahawai on the beach in the first hour. Dropped a third in the next hour and then nothing, nada, zilch for the rest of the day.
    They returned on high tide but not to my rod. But it was a good day and a learning curve for the uneducated. Sadly we never got to see the monster which is a bit of a failing of this otherwise good comp. What a munta though.
