Such an optimist Mark lol. Whats to worry about? Ya go fishing to relax bro. A little southerly shouldn't bother ya !

Beaches up here look fantastic as the moment, very clean with good sized snapper in reasonable numbers about. Not many gurnard though, But plenty a kahawai. The cut has been fishing quite well in the morning's for snapper, they seemed to have shuffled south a little now. If you have a quad, go south of the tree toward Iwatea, that general area now has quite good numbers. The only spot that I know of that has good gurnard numbers at the moment is over the other side of the wairoa bar. Hard to get to, but quite a few gurnard in close there.

On the stink side, the trawlers (2) are smashing the beaches in very close from blacks to Wairoa. They come right into about 500m at night off tahanui, doing swoop after swoop................ So if you get ......all, you can post a letter to the local fisheries and compliment them on the fantastic work they are doing !! Last night in the inflatable off blacks ( Between two trawlers working ) I was quite suprized in there lack of skill, they actually missed 1 small snapper and 3 small gurnard, thought better of them, but I was wrong..........

On a bright note, the other side has been fishing well, kingfish, gurnard, solid sholies, kahawai and trevally...... over the low tide which falls in the arvo. May be worth a visit. I heard a sad story about another angler who lost a good fish after beaching it.... wave came up and grabbed a good kingfish.

It did look a little weedy at the Oraka end two days ago, but it was quite flat, it should have cleared by now. Although I would recommend finding a hole along the beach than just driving to land marks.

I also popped over the hill to dinahs, rays and sharks most casts, bugger all else. You know it's just not your day when you hook two rays at the same time, what a nightmare. One line busted off, and the other line wreaked in the middle, not cool.

    Good luck this weekend.
