Team Alty caught a total of 31 kahawai for the teo days and unlike last year no snapper. Conditions were good and deteriorating but nicely fishable for the whole comp. Bill Hohepa kept the crowd amused at headquarters in the evenings. Best fish day 1 was 1.6kgs. On day two there were about five or six fish bigger. One that weighed in near the top of the list was found to be full of sand. It was even packed in behind the gills. The angler wasnt named but he was disqualified from the competition. The winning kahawai was 2.14kgs. All in all a great comp with over 500 rods this year. I reckon it will continue to grow. Already they have outgrown the HQ building. Oh, and did I mention that all our kahawai were undersize?
