    Awesome day Archived Message

Took my step daughter Caitlin for a surfcast this morning at 5:30am. We fished all day and got home tonight at 6:20pm. She is only 9 and had no trouble fishing the day away, and playing in the sand and keeping the seaguls at bay during the slower times. I had 2 good hits that resulted in a no hookup at the top of the tide and a snap off on 8kg just before dusk.

We managed 17 snapper between us to 34cm, keeping 10 of them. I also got a late season gurnard at 36cm, and Caitlin released 3 kahawai, and had fun with a 20kg eagle ray that was not impressed about the sore face. Awesome day. Was flat calm until just after midday and the wind only got to 10 knots. A bit chilly, but for an autumn fish on the beach it was magic.
