by buying quality gear and giving it a general clean up after a good beach session you will save alot of money in the long run.i recommened that if you cant afford then wait a bit till you can.tca, penn, shimano, daiwa will all serve you well when looked after and generally all have good bearing systems.i steer clear of javis walker and the like as they are simply not tough enougth but each to their own.plus bait tie,a glove, rod stand(pref tall around the bay)hooks from 3/0 to 9/0,sand grab sinkers 3oz-6oz,sharp knife, trace all needed in start and to a lesser extent couple of silver lures for river mouths(hexi wobblers work for me)multi tool for hook removel etc, bottle of tuna oil, glow beads and tip lights/bells and headlamp/torch(for night adventures)bait flies and square of cheese(in case your bait runs out and you wana carry on)waders if beach is a little shallow or you dont like ya feet getting wet.and on and on lol.slowly gather up everything you need as you will come to appreciate it later on,ultimatly if you have a line and a hook in the water your a chance to catch a fish but the more fishing you do and the more you broaden your search for places to go and the different weather etc that comes with it the more you will need.happy fishing my friend
