"The worst day Fishing is better than the best day of work"
You need to be thinking more about what you are trying to catch, the squid is ok for snapper, but nothing else, and at this time of the year it is hopeless, it is better suited in February and March when the water is warmer.
The Grey mullet is not bad, it works really well in the Bay of Plenty, but does nothing special locally. The most prolific fish is the humble kahawai, everything eats it "fresh". Small strip baits of scales kahawai is about as good as it gets. Pushing the point through the skin and the barb sitting on the soft flesh side.
During the day, send it to africa, but over the twilight period and night fall, keep it closer to home.
Anyways, I like hearing longliners are not catching fish, so keep doing what you are doing, pile on the squid baits. Wairoa Hawkesbay
