Just watched the video of the casting comp. at Trentham. Does anyone know if there is ever something like this in Auckland? I never see it advertised.

Hi druid, the Northshore club had a casting day about two months ago. there is a Tackle Tactics Regional casting day on the 5th of Jan in Kiatia everyone is welcome. There is an earlier posting giving directoins to the venue. We would love to hold an event in Auckland but finding a big enough venue is the problem as bustoffs can go 400mtrs. If anyone knows of a venue let us know and we will check it out.

We would like to but we need help finding a suitable casting feild, if you can find some where and it can padocks we will come over.

Went to a casting comp many moons ago at Ellerslie Racecourse. Might be a bit pricey these days.The snapper don't know where the car park is! Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.
I will be looking into suitable casting venues up here in Auckland once my workload calms down in a month or two.
The problem with the race courses is they're highly utilised most weekends. It's looking likely it will have to be on the out skirts of Auckland. As has been mentioned finding a suitbale open area with safety room for breakoffs is not easy and I the traditional venue the Bethells guys used in the past was wanting insurance taken out so that added an extra expense for the club/casters ontop of the hireage.
Once/If I can find somewhere suitable then I'll discuss it with Jock & the NZACA and the club will send out appropriate notifications Brenton Cumberpatch North Shore Surfcasting Club, 2012 Treasurer.

There seems to be a lot of houses on either side. I will talk to snappy boy on Thursday as he lived out that way a while ago. A farmers paddock will be as good as misfires can go along way with best being about 400mtrs.
