The more the merrier. Two years with 4.5kgs winning the heaviest kahawai I am surprised that they are not sold out already.

My problem with this comp is that I haven't seen a photo of any of these 4.5kg winning fish in the last 2 years!! I always say " No photo, no fish!!" Pretty hard to believe that a phenominal fish of that size which is a true trophy size kahawai and they don't show it at the prizegiving. If I caught it I'd bring it in a chillybin to the weigh in to show people.

No excuses, just get out there!!

Have I got this correct? There was a 4.5kg Kahawai caught in a competition............ and none of the competitors saw the fish? Apart from a photo that is floating around.......

Fish like that, and all fish really should be shown, whats a weigh in if you cant see the fish and think......... if only that bugger took my hook!

They weigh on the beach and the competitor has the chance to weigh and release.
I reckon that fish like those should be shown at prizegiving.

True. I cant really proclaim there existence until Ive actually caught one. But I think the last two Pania Biggest Kahawai Cup winners came from Porangahau. (Mine and Sue"s). I'm sure theres one out there.

So the fish is weighed on the same scales as every other fish caught in this comp?? Maybe they should put it on the ticket that you can catch weigh and release!!! To be honest thats a crock of shit!!! I got a photo too of my biggest kahawai caught on a beach with similar sand to porongahau and I released it, maybe I could show that at the prizegiving and clain 2nd place!!
