Toothy things were about after dark...

Got a couple of these at 5am today.

Other than that, a few small topes and paddle crab which turned into a small Lemon

Prawn tail bait was useless at getting lemons. Fresh paddle crab did the trick.

Awesome photo's Chris, great to see some good pics on this site, the scenic shots are pretty cool.

From the guys I have been talking to around the country side, on the whole, for most it was a really un-productive weekends fishing, however the weather was stunning, already feel like my skin is about to fall off.

I headed up around Cape-Runaway for the weekend, Gem of an area. We caught 17 Terikihi, caught a few terrors off the bricks before, but never in those numbers, all reasonable fish too. good eating. Plenty of other fish around, kings and what not. Great weekend for it weather wise, thats for real

How'd did the rest of the intrepid fishos get on? Couldnt make it unfortunately, had to settle for an evening in the fishless CHB. I'm sure Mohaka would have been better.

We had a great time

There wasn't many who never got a feed. Plenty of Snapper and Gurnard which was a pleasure to see. The only disappointment for me was that after 4 hours fishing a local lady and her Husband arrived, parked 30m away, threw out her old rod dropping a big lump of squid 20m from shore to have it promptly grabbed by a very nice 10kg plus snapper

Oh bugga. Still thats fishing isnt it. Good to hear of them being caught though. Hopefully its a sign of some good fishing to come.

Fishing was very slow. Evening high tide produced for most and light change sunday morning. Some big splashes out wide 300mtrs out toward the mouth. Monster kingies id say. Too damm hot for this full, just aswell the river was behind me.

I got spooled tonight when a kingfish decided to run wide up the river, line gooooone, impressive fish, was lol. 15kg mono, see you later

Yeah Chris, it was a big bugger, but shes only a yarn if your not holding it in a picture. And yeah Gary, it was surreal, running around the back off the spit, fighting to keep every metre of line on my reel as the power from the river smashed up stream, all I can say is, what a rush. Not such a rush having no line left with shaking arms, but all the same, outstanding lol.

I had a ky out around 1.8kg............... ENHAILED in 3 minutes............. Frigin hook pulled from the back, and lodged in the tail, pulled the live bait out of the mouth. May chuck some pics up at some stage, pretty bloody amazing stuff.
