After a long wait the NEW Penn range has arrived. In the surf range there is a few rods that are worth a good look . Penn surf rods NZ range have been crap (I was trying to be nice) but his NEW range is pretty cool . The 14' 3pc and 13' 3pc have Fuji K guides which are tangle free . The 14' has a nice action with a fast action tip section . We cast a 150gm lead over the shoulder , off the ground and pendulum. The rod casts well and has a good tip recovery but I feel the butt section is a bit short which makes the rod feel a bit heavy with more powerful casting styles ( but I could have monkey arms ) both rods are very very well finished in gloss black with dark red bindings and decals. The 13' casts well and fishes well (may have been the first fish caught on one of these rods in NZ ?), the action is completely different to the 14' with a much more parabolic action in the top half . The blank is much lighter and thinner than the 14' which should give it a broad market. In summery two very good rods at a very good price. Photos to follow. I almost forgot about the 12' overhead with a Penn o/h reel with cast control , I hope it will arrive this week so I can give it a blast, will let you know.

Should get the 12 footer to you today. I am looking forward to seeing how it matches up with the new Penn Squall 15 Mag.The snapper don't know where the car park is! Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.
