Brilliant, works on the same principal as the old Kiwi potato gun. There are many ways of catching fish, all this guy is doing is using a different method of casting. Bloody lethal should the bale are flip over, but it still gives all the enjoyment of catching a fish for dinner.

Fishing fun is what we make of it, and I can see nothing wrong with this ... apart from the danger should the direction go astray.

Imagine.........90 Mile Contest. 1000 anglers have their guns primed, baited and ready.......Start Fishing and 1000 cannons go off. I wonder how many would have had the bail closed.
Taiwanese fishing trawlers scatter for the horizon as water erupts around them as the baits descend......When fish bite the anglers reel their fish in with a chance of winning the top prize or even a spot prize of a cannon.

The snapper don't know where the car park is!
Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.

The old Kiwi method was fraught with far more danger. The line would be curled into the bottom of a bucket.

I'm still trying hard to work out how to fix an armed warhead to the nose of an electric torpedo, this to scuttle all the inshore trawlers I am told work our Napier shores.

The device in the video could be the answer to an angler's prayer, especially when surfcasters set up their gear within twenty metres of you and then proceed to cast in every direction other than straight, or fail to put on enough weight or grip leads when there is a current running.

Yes, this device has considerable, meaningful advantages. It doesn't take the fun out of fishing
in fact it has considerable possibilities.

I wonder what it is he's putting in the tube.
Is it a normal sinker contained in a sabot, or is it a custom sized sinker made from some material that fits the tube?

Nah this monstrosity does not add to my fishing skills. It might provide some fun for kids but definately not for the avid fishermen...

Had a run in with a submariner this morning. He had trouble understanding why he shouldnt set his torpedo 10 meteres to one side of my rods. He said "it will go out straight". I pointed to my footprints in the sand where I had to follow a hooked fish down the beach just before he arrived.
He said that they would move down the beach 50m. His parting shot was "we will leave the ones in close for you".
I waved as I left and climbed the bank behind the beach.I also smiled as I noticed his towing track would cover a patch of reef in front of him.
