Kahawai and Snapper prizes went ($1000.00 each) Gurnard over a kilo was caught, not sure about non scale but some prizes were drawn. Also a flounder and one kingfish. There were 340 fishers. Conditions were perfect if a little flat and clean. Huge schools of pilchards circled the beach all day. The kahawai chased them ashore for some lucky anglers to pick up. Everyone said they had a great day and the Organisers (Wairoa Club) and sponsor (Pure Fishing NZ ltd) were more than pleased with a great day and huge turnout. The snapper don't know where the car park is! Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.
