Eides?

What happened at Eides? Were fish caught? Was there weed?

I have the answer to my own question, at least in part. I heard it was a fail.

I'm heading that way tomorrow, so hoping for a turnaround

No snapper caught, but there is one very happy young fella out there who won the quad "raffle", was very slow and hard work out there, water looked fishy but nothing was happening for a lot of people

Another great well run event by Grant and his team. There were 900 plus fisho's and yes this year was hard work , no weed for us and a prize winner for me. Proud new owner of a nice pair of bino's. the weather was perfect as was the sea , all and all a nice day at the office .
Would loved to be a fly on the wall with the young bloke who won the quad and his father on the way home.
See you all next year.

GK landed a lemon which he converted into a self inflating matrass for 8th place, which he needed as Sue chucks him out of the Nissan for snoring to loudly.

So, no weed. But no snappers, at least during the hours fished. I'm committed, and 48 hours is a long time in fishing

. When I'm back, I'll post some pics. Hopefully, they won't solely feature black sand beaches and Brent's quad. I got enough of those last time, which was Feb 28 2012. It wasn't a total fail. My snapper from that trip shown below. Got that one first cast, but it was just baby tope and other rubbish from then on.

Yeah right! (actually you are right.) That was the best fishing conditions I have ever had on that beach. 1/2 m. swell and no weed where I was. Walking distance from the entrance. One 5.8kg lemon was all I could find.
This contest was no fail. Arguably the biggest surf contest in New Zealand these days.
It is a stand out because it is well run and everyone is friendly.
Good on the young lad who took out the Quad bike. You should have seen the look on his face when it was announced.
Cant wait for next year.

The snapper don't know where the car park is!

I stand corrected. The Eides contest wasn't a fail, only the fishing.

I saw pics of the contest somewhere—a seemingly endless clutter of rods, vehicles and people. Yuk. I'll take scenery like this anytime.
