(Lehigh University) Fishing Rod Recovery System Survey

Hi all,
I am a student in an Honors Engineering Program at Lehigh University who is on a team looking to design a fishing rod recovery system or other related equipment. We are currently trying to gather as much input as possible to help determine what problems exist in this realm, and created this short survey in order to do so.
It will take you five minutes to complete at most, but we greatly appreciate every single one of your responses to help us in our endeavor.
I don't think you understand surfcasting Trevor, its done from the beach and as such its pretty hard to 'lose' a rod. You might be trying to find a solution to a problem that doesn't really exist.. Pretty much the only way you are going to lose a rod from the beach is to have a VERY big fish drag it out of its stand and into the water. If you have your drag set correctly that is impossible too. You might lose all your line, but not your rod/reel.
