PATHETIC!

I find it hard to believe that a visiting film crew has the power to make local council close access to 90 Mile Beach for a week. What if you had planned a trip and that was announced while you were on the way up? The locals must be livid.

The snapper don't know where the car park is!
Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.

I was under the impression that 90 mile beach was a public road, there for the police are the only people that can close it, the only time a council can close roads is if they are doing works- then it has to be advertised in the local papers.

It wont be closed for a week. The actual "closed" time will be for a section of beach and for no more than 45 minutes. They wanted to be able to choose that time in a one-week window.
As usual the media are building mountains out of nothing...

I fully support the council closing the beach for the filming. Would be minimal disruption and good exposure for the region.

and yes, the council can temporarily close roads for many reasons including filming and events.

Give you the tip, they won't be doing those speeds on the ninety at the moment. the beach is in poor driving condition for speed.

Some good bone rattlers up near high tide mark eh. They should have a bus race up the 90 that be a laugh. Get ya brudda hone harawa to sit at the end of the beach with his Maori sovereignty flag to wave the winner in

. Cough medicine aint bad mate. Will go down a treat next few evenings on the beach. Hope you havnt hocked the rest off yet, ill be back in May to collect some more.
