anchovies

I no fish go for anything when they are hungry but ho well do you guys rate anchovies for bait?

I've found they tend to go soft instantly once they thaw. Much more so than pilchards. Very mushy and hard to present a decent bait with them once they've thawed.

I get anchovies from the local gas station 4square. Think they come from the philipines, very good bait and lasts on the hook nice and oily aswell.
They dont like to be refrozen then they become musshy, generaly just take enough out the bag to thaw and leave the rest in the coolerbox.

Born to fish. Forced to work.

Ive found them good bait for snapper and gurnard and as you can use a whole one they look pretty natural on the hook. Not a fan of the ones sold here but the ones round BOP seem to work really well.

Yep anchovies can be good bait for kahawai, snaps and gurnard, They need to be frozen right up to baiting time.

The snapper don't know where the car park is!
Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.
