Looking to give Mahanga Beach a go this weekend . Does anybody know how it has been fishing of late. TIA

May see you there weather permitting. Havnt heard a thing but then there is tradition. Big snapper show up at Mahanga this time of year traditionally. Well worth a throw if not too rough.
A perfect hightide sea at Mahanga in my opinion. The snapper don't know where the car park is! Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.

I don't know about off the beach but I will say that off the boat the fishing is second to none at the moment, lots of snapper in the 3-7kg range, plenty of gurnard, ect... Good sized trevs around the 2-2.5kg mark. But don't tell the trawlers that, it only takes those wankers a couple of drags to bugger it.
Snapper rock the other evening was fantastic guys, big gurnard, big trevs, lots of kahawai........ I was really enjoying it, fishing over the first and last hour of light has been great.
